And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15 NIV.
Every week, I teach on Live, and people comment about politics. They make accusations about candidates or policies, then wait for my response. I usually go on teaching, then let them know I answer questions at the end. I didn't expect my opinion to matter so much. They dislike my declaration of political independence. I am for the Lord.
People believe there are hundreds of sides. They form their opinions and feelings, then join one. They believe in hundreds of religions and millions of fake gods, then attack those who disagree. People determine who and what to follow, from faith to football. Countless options shape our identity.
Only two sides exist. One is definite, and the other provides multiple options. One faith leads to eternity, while all the others lead to the same dark destination. Every choice contains darkness. Politics, culture, and other groups are all carnal. Individuals enjoy categorizing themselves and claiming it's solely about Jesus. I’m sorry to tell everyone about these individuals.
Republicans and Democrats parties do not all display Christian values. Football players that point to the sky are not all perfect. Hollyweird actors and actresses who give God glory in their acceptance speeches are not all doing it wholeheartedly. Then, not every church will follow all the ways of God’s Word and His values.
Only two options exist when choosing. When people demand we pick one, what will we say? I pray we all say that we will serve the Lord for us and our house.
Lord, lead us not to get caught up in worldly junk. Help us place all our faith in You. When choosing a side, the decision becomes apparent. Thank You, and we can always pick You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
