Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” Mark 4:30-34 NIV.
Our tour in Israel brought us all under this gigantic tree. I bent my neck back to see the top. He gave us very tiny seeds from it. He let us know it was a mustard tree. Those small seeds produced a monstrous tree.
That brings peace to my heart. I hope it does with all of us. We can all struggle in life. But the smallest faith in Jesus can spark big things. The simplest prayers can slay giant issues.
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 NIV.
I love this verse! Hebrew means hands off, not be still. We cannot do this on our own. We just need trust—small confidence like a seed. To connect with His Kingdom, we need to have faith.
The Wednesday Bible study I teach comprises mockers and non-believers. They comment that faith is silly. Jesus is a fairy tale. But I trust that His Word in study can produce faith. I am patient for the yield of harvest.
Our futures are in seed form. If we gave a hundred people seed, what would they do with it? They could store it away, some throw it out, some forget to water it, and some would sow it. They would scatter it.
I pray wherever we are in life, we sow seeds of faith. The specific seed we need in our lives will get scattered and sown. Have patience and allow Him to move. Because one day, our necks will kink as we look up at the harvest, He grew with us. I'm glad every worry does not rely on our power to remove it. It is all about Him.
Use us to bring a harvest, Lord. Let it all bring glory to You. Let us sow seeds with a great return. Ones with faith and conviction. One that will change lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.
