I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently, some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. Galatians 1:6-7 NIV.
When connected to the Lord, a sense of wonder and awe floods the soul. Prayer reveals people to us. There is an election going on. One candidate mimics the other like a chameleon. They try to cover up failed policies by embracing the other candidates. Then people fall for this. Career politicians excel at persuading despite their clear failures in office.
I discussed this with a cult leader on South Street one time. He told me we had the same mission and purpose. That he was also sharing the Gospel, I clarified that my method does not involve taking underage children who have run away from their parents to a compound. Nor was it Jesus’ way to take advantage of little ones. He was none too happy about that honest comment.
When they convert people, cult leaders use truth to gain their followers. They add their own agendas and policies to win over the masses. Then, they use truth tactics and add poison. They will win followers to their cause. They manipulate beliefs, distorting the truth to their desires.
Then, knowing His truth is necessary in the world. Ground yourself in Him and His Word because people love to distort to gain. Those craving power will stop at nothing to achieve it. They will lie, cheat, and even use Jesus to do it. Be careful out there. Get grounded in Jesus.
Lead us away from chameleons, Lord. Take us on straight paths. Then, when someone tries to lead us away from You, let us see it. Guide us to Your truths and ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.
